About
Parboni Pallav Bose (b. 1994, Jhansi) is a Delhi NCR–based photographer and documentary filmmaker whose practice moves through folklore, gender, diaspora, and memory as lived experience. Working across photography and film, she looks at exploring possibilities of storytelling across mediums, photographic processes and visual languages.
Her long-term engagements are rooted in sustained fieldwork. Recent work explores contemporary witch hunting practices through folklore, research and case studies, examining how superstition and collective belief translate into violence in the present.
Across various projects, Bose works closely with memory, folklore, oral histories and personal narratives as means to her medium. Bose is also deeply interested in alternative photographic practices and experiments with wet plate collodion, cyanotype and gelee printing.
Bose’s practice is shaped by her education in English Literature at the University of Delhi, which informs her research-led and narrative approach to image-making. She has exhibited internationally, including at the erstereihe Hamburg Art Gallery (Germany) and Iranian Artist Forum (Tehran).
In 2024, her work was shortlisted for Magnum’s Textile Exchange program. A selection of her photographs was also published in Docu Magazine as a special edition photobook.
Bose recently finished her residency at Pathshala Resting Academy International Student’s Program.
